A life without Jose Bautista and Edwin Encarnacion on the Blue Jays is a life I don’t want to live in but…sadly it’s looking like that’s how it’s going to be.

I still have hope though.

Barely any, less than 5%, that sluggers Jose Bautista and/or Edwin Encarnacion will return in 2017 rocking blue.

My condolences go out to diehard Bautista fans because it’s seriously looking like Jose will not return as a Blue Jay (it hurts me too). However there is a better chance, albeit small, that Eddie will return but there is no need to fret. Our lineup is still World Series worthy.

With the editions of DH/1B Kendrys Morales (basically a version of Encarnacion) and OF/INF Steve Pearce, former Oriole, not sure how I feel about that, it seems there’s no need for either Jose or Edwin.

Now of course, Morales is no Encarnacion and Pearce is no Jose, the two are merely irreplaceable but I’m willing to adapt. Even though Bautista and Encarnacion are way better (no offense to Morales or Pearce), Kendrys and Steve, the two new Jays aren’t bad themselves.

Kendrys Morales’ stats from 2016 were pretty good. With a batting average .263, he had 30 homers and 93 runs batted in with 147 hits, much better than Bautista’s stats if I may add.

Steve Pearce, who’s not a huge power hitter like Jose, Eddie and Kendrys, still has decent numbers himself. Last year, he had a .288 BA, which is a result from having 13 home runs and 35 RBIs with 76 hits. Clearly not even close to what Edwin and Bautista’s stats are but still a good player to have in our lineup.

Yes, I understand Bautista and Encarnacion provide more power, more home runs… cue the sad music, I’m beginning to get emotional. 2016 was probably their last year which means no more bat flips (how will I live???) and no more Edwing (that’ll hurt the most. I’ll never be able to look at a parrot the same way again). But anyway, I know it’s hard imagining the possibility of seeing Bautista or Encarnacion on the back of a Red Sox jersey (it really is quite frightening),  but it’ll be okay. We know have Morales and Pearce, two great players on our team who will alongside JD, Russ and Tulo will fit quite comfortably. Appreciate all of what Jose and Edwin have done for this team, for our country, the fans. It’ll always be cherished and remembered. But of course, there is still a chance. Blue Jays fans DON’T LOSE HOPE! But even if they don’t come back, will always cheer them on whatever team they happen to be on (even if they are a Red Sox or Yankee). I send my well wishes to both but if you can, please come back to Toronto!
